The Hare Krsna People have their own reasons for chanting the Hari Krisna Chant which I also believe but I have also reasoned out another reason for chanting which I believe is just as valid.

Chi is the natural Force that fills our universe. Traditional Chinese people believe that there are three major forces in our universe. Chi from the Stars, Chi from the Earth and Chi from living things. The Yin and Yang energies.

Living things have Two Major Vessels, two major reservoir channels which store the Yin and Yang energies.

1)  The Conception Vessel is one of the two major reservoir channels storing the Yin Chi in the body. It connects at the lower lip and travels down the centre of the body, to a point between the genitals and the anus, called the Huiyin (meeting of the Yin).

2) The Governing Vessel is the other major reservoir channel storing the Yang Chi in the body it connects at the Huiyin point and travels up the back centre of the body, over the head, through the brain and connect at the top of the upper lip, just below the nose, This point is called the Renzhong.

When we chant the Hari Krisna chant or any other chant or mantra for that matter our tongue is repeatedly touching the area of our palate just behind our front teeth, the Renzhong point. This connects the Yin (Conception) and the Yang (Governing) vessels. This allows the Chi to circulate smoothly between the Yin and Yang Vessels, our tongue is the Bridge between the two energy vessels the Yin and Yang Vessels, this also causes your mouth to generate saliva under you tongue, this keeps your throat moist during chanting or meditation. This area is known as your heavenly pond. The Hari Krisna chant is the ultimate chant because it is so easy to chant (say) and your tongue (the Bridge) is connecting with the Renzhong point a great many times and the Chi force is all most fully circulating, restoring and purifying our body and mind (brain). The more you chant the more the benifit to your body, mind and spirit.

I might as well take this opportunity to tell you a wee true story about what happened to me in 1995.

In September 1995 I took up Tai Chi lessons for the first time in my life, I was still doing it two month later in november but  I had not progressed very much and as usual I felt I was not welcome at the classes by some of the people in the Tai Chi class.  Anyway one tuesday evening about 6.30pm I was lying on top of my bed, fully clothed, in the dark (it was winter) thinking to myself that I was not going back to Tai Chi lessons because I was just not getting it and some of the people in the class appear to hate me. When all of a sudden a BEING OF LIGHT suddenly appeared at the bottom of my bed and it bent down and touched me between my legs, the Huiyin point, with the tip of his forefinger of his right or left hand and the room was just as suddenly filled with a blazing white light for a split second and then the BEING OF LIGHT just dissappeared and I found myself lying in the dark again totally Gobsmacked.  I did not give up Tai Chi then and practised it for 15 years or so till I gave it up because of my life circumstances, I have now taken it up again using a DVD until I can get back to my Teacher and I find that I still remember (programmed) and can still do a good bit of the basic form, Cheng Man-Ch,ing,s Yang style 37 step Short Form. Who or what the BEING OF LIGHT was I do not know but I understood  the message he was sent with and I will most definitely continue to practise Tai Chi.  A true life story, not to bad was it.
